LMS International has announced the signing of a new contract with EADS Launch Vehicles for shock, vibration and acoustic testing systems and software, strengthening a technological partnership that has been growing since 1991. The on-site laboratories at EADS Bordeaux rely on LMS equipment and software for the structural qualification testing that ensures the integrity and launch survivability of its vehicles and payloads.
EADS is widely recognized for manufacturing a variety of space transport systems and has built up world-class launch related engineering competence in non-destructive control, metrology, materials, and thermal protections as well as shock, vibration and acoustics testing. LMS, leader in shock, vibration control and acoustics testing systems and simulation software, has worked closely as a strategic partner of EADS on the critical pre-flight validation of the mechanical design of space hardware, re-entry simulations, vibration and dynamics.
An extremely productive relationship began ten years ago with EADS that revolved around LMS testing expertise and the LMS CADA-X vibration control and data reduction system. Now EADS wants to enlarge and upgrade the current LMS testing systems. The need for extremely high-end acoustic and vibration testing and simulation systems has never been greater, as the Bordeaux facility extends its value added technical service offering. After years of trouble-free service and unequivocal endorsement from pioneers at the facility, EADS engineers are convinced that LMS supplies the most reliable and comprehensive systems, and can continue to support their extreme testing and development challenges.
The EADS test facility will upgrade from the original HP3565 multi-channel data acquisition and control system running LMS CADA-X on its own, to 4 new SCADAS III systems running LMS Test.Lab, in addition to LMS CADA-X. The performance improvements achieved by using LMS SCADAS III, in combination with the productivity improvements achieved with Test.Lab software, create new-generation critical testing solutions for one of the most exacting engineering disciplines. EADS and LMS environmental testing consultants have agreed that this renewed configuration provides the means for the EADS laboratories to meet their increasingly demanding schedules for launch vehicle, satellite and space transport over the coming years.
