Toyota System Research and LMS announce cooperation

Communiqué de presse par date24 Oct 2000

Toyota System Research (TSR) and LMS International have announced a technology cooperation aimed at the development of advanced methods for early concept evaluation. A major activity of TSR consists in the development of CAE application technologies for NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness), crash, kinematics, and similar critical application areas. TSR applies these technologies in the product development process and develops CAE software to improve their applicability.

LMS will develop specific forward and reverse system synthesis techniques to allow a faster NVH analysis at the system level. TSR will implement the methodology in their NVH-CAE environment and validate the approach together with one of their customers.

According to Masaru Fujii, General Manager of the TSR Systems Division, "LMS is recognized for its knowledge and experience in NVH system assembly. This type of technology, for example can help us simulate the effect of adding different types damping material on the overall sound inside the vehicle. Incorporating such methodologies in our leading body CAE environment will provide us with a significant edge."

Dirk De Vis, LMS Vice-President Engineering Services, commented, "The methodologies provided by LMS will allow TSR to quickly evaluate critical performance factors much earlier in the design cycle. Such upfront design space evaluation will enable engineers to tune and optimize the vehicle before sign-off by test. It will lead to improved product quality and shorter development processes." Worldwide, there is a rapidly growing interest in hybrid simulation capabilities, integrating virtual prototyping with physical prototype testing. The application areas of hybrid simulation range from early concept decisions, through the creation of detailed analysis models, incorporating test models, into the validation phase where validated models speed up the refinement.
